Welcome to the Train-wrecked series!

An Artist Offering with Lawrence Trainor.

A bold new take on some classic AudioScape offerings, the train-wrecked series with Lawrence Trainor, offers truly unique front panel aging and vintage patina, each front panel is a work of art. Given the nature and process in doing these, each piece we offer here will be extremely limited.

How this happened:

This idea was the brainchild of drBill (aka Bill Pearson) of Louder than Liftoff fame. He has an affinity for relic’d equipment, be it guitars or vintage recording gear, and knew of the perfect artist for this project. Enter Lawrence Trainor: Lawrence is well known for his Steampunk offerings, unique concept art and even adaptations of typical furniture pieces like lamps etc

We will sprinkle these in with our regular Inventory Updates so be on the lookout and sign up for the email updates, each piece is a ‘one of a kind’ artist offering, so pictures are just for basic reference.

These will be extremely limited, good luck to all!

Regular product info below:

CLASSIC, AGGRESSIVE FET COMPRESSION WITH A TWIST - BUILT THE AUDIOSCAPE WAY!

A sonically faithful, period-correct recreation of the LEGENDARY “REV F” that carried on the famous FET Compression legacy!

The 76F features ALL of the smack and character of the 76A, but adds a bit of modern POLISH that makes it great for more current productions. Features the famous “ALL BUTTONS IN” Ratio Mode (and of course, any combination in between; our favorite being 4:1 and 12:1 together!) and everything else you would expect from a lovely vintage FET Compressor.

The 76F features the Cinemag CM-O12 Input transformer, which is a incredible replica of the original UTC O-12 iron.

The 76F and the 76A are the first budget-friendly Vintage FET-Styled compressors to use this unparalleled transformer. We have heard every style of modern transformer and this is by far the most sonically authentic sounding transformer in production.
Cinemag completely nailed it!

It also features the period-correct B11148 Output Transformer which is an IMMENSE part of the “REV F” sound.

The 76F has SLIGHTLY LESS upper-midrange bite than our 76A, but handles compression of the low-end in a bit more transparent manner.

Another distinguishing feature of the 76F is it’s slightly slower Attack Time, allowing it to give a bit more “point” to the source. This can be very useful for more crafting modern Kick, Snare and Bass Guitar sounds!

True to AudioScape form, only the best parts that “fit” the period-correct accuracy of the original unit are used. Carbon Film Resistors in the audio path and PRECISION Metal Film Resistors in the Side-Chain; a perfect marriage of SONIC MOJO and PRECISION; allowing the compression section to operate flawlessly for a lifetime.

Simply put, your kick drums, bass guitars, vocals and drum rooms will THANK YOU for purchasing the 76F!

WHY SHOULD YOU BUY A 76F?

- Proudly built in small-batches from end to end on site, in the USA by a small team of skilled assemblers. Each assembler is assigned 2 products, making them masters of their craft!
- KNOW where your hard-earned money is going and feel GOOD about ANY purchase made from us! Every dollar spent helps feed a family, fund college tuition and supports NEW product development / R & D!
- Our margins are very tight
. BUT, this sacrifice allows us FULL control over EVERY aspect of the manufacturing and assembly process.
-
We are able to capitalize on the USA surplus market and use NOS parts where it matters and most importantly, we are able to offer a product that is (in our biased opinions), simply a step above the competition. ;-)

AUDIOSCAPE offers a HASSLE-FREE, 2-YEAR WARRANTY included with EVERY unit we sell!
**FREE
PATCHRAT PRO SUBSCRIPTION INCLUDED WITH EVERY PURCHASE!**

Tech rant:

These are classic compressors and to nail the sound you have to use the proper vintage style parts. Let’s start with the input transformer. The Cinemag CM-O12 is the best and closest recreation of the UTC O-12. During R & D we tried countless other types and compared it against 5 different original vintage O-12’s from different eras, the CM-O12 either matched or exceeded the vintage ones every single time, and no other current manufacturer came close in this test to nailing the perfect balance of saturation and the bigger sound the vintage units have. The input transformer is one of the most noticeable and quintessential parts, it’s one of the first components your signal hits. We wouldn’t make 76’s without this transformer, You use something else and it isn’t a 76’ in our humble opinion…

The components they used during the Rev F days don’t go hand in hand with the ‘mass produced’ mentality of manufacturing. In our experience, trying to do larger runs with heat sensitive parts like carbon comp resistors equals a much more noisy and out of whack product. The secret for inquiring minds? Be willing to work harder than anyone else. We’ll gladly give that trade secret away :-) We stuff the boards weekly by hand to ensure heat sensitive don’t get overheated during any part of the assembly process. We make everything end to end here, not ‘final assembly in USA’ or ‘designed in USA’. Every product is made by our audio loving hands here in Port Orange, FL. Made in the USA

Simply put, if you’re looking to capture the vintage sound of the Rev F, you aren’t going to get any closer than this, unless you buy vintage one for 15K. Please enjoy and make the music we all enjoy sound better!
